Storywood Tequila has the heart of Mexico and the soul of Scotland and was founded by Scottish chef, whisky enthusiast and wood ageing expert, Michael Ballantyne, who was inspired to create this innovative tequila while spending time in his mother’s hometown of San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. A limited-edition expression aged for seven months in oloroso sherry casks, it’s bold and full-flavoured with sweet cherry and jammy dark fruits.

This inspiration led to the creation of Storywood, which tells a tale of two countries, two cultures, and two beloved spirits intertwined. The lauded Storywood Speyside 14 Anejo spends at least 14 months in Speyside whisky barrels and boasts delicious flavours of roasted nuts, treacle toffee and toasted oak.Celebrity-endorsed tequilas have become big business – it seems like everyone from George Clooney to Justin Timberlake have launched their own brands. Last month, Tequila Don Julio added to its portfolio with this reposado tequila aged at least four months in ruby port wine casks. The light pink hue differs from the traditional golden liquid of a reposado, hence its label as a rosado, which is imparted by the port casks. Storywood Tequila has just arrived in the UK and, as the only tequila fully matured in whisky casks, is a genuine world first. Bottled at 40 per cent abv, the liquid has prominent vegetal aromas synonymous with agave, with roasted bell pepper joining some woody notes of toasted oak, plus hazelnut and vanilla.
