We've just been camping with some friends of ours and they have a Kalahari 8, and they were very positive in their recommendation of it. So much so that I thought we might invest in one ourselves as our growing family is needing a bit more room. The four double bedrooms mean us grown ups get a room, the kids get a room each plus we have a 'dressing' room to keep our clothes in. On colder trips we take one of the internal dividing curtains down and all sleep in one big bedroom There is nowhere in the porch to mount a lantern/light which is a little silly really. To be honest a pole going between the 2 upright poles would add huge stability, help to tension the porch and provide somewhere to clip a light to. Being a 'if something sounds too good to be true' kind of guy I decided to take a look on the Interweb and see if this really was a great bargain, and no of course it's not.

Erecting it is straightforward - we're no professionals (and not very tall either) and can put it up in about 45 minutes. The gap at the sides was not too big though, about 4 inches at the most, but flush at the top and bottom of the dome. It also directed most of the rain around the outside of the tent, rather than into the door area. We couldn't get the roof properly taught, again, possibly due to the angle of the tent we attached it to, so water did pool a little above us, but at no point did it leak. We extended our tent with the porch unit, which adds some good utility space but we haven't mastered putting it up properly yet. Perhaps we're just not tall enough.Great for a long weekend with a group, or an extended family camp-out. Available exclusively from GoOutdoors.co.uk Hook the elastic holding pole sections at the end nearest the broken section and pull out so knot can be undone (or if necessary cut off) The footprint is great to protect the groundsheet of the tent and provides a little extra insulation. It's also good so you can see how your tent will be pitched before putting the tent up. We do, however find if it does rain puddles of water do get trapped between the footprint and groundsheet which can sometimes leak through a little bit. This tent can also with stand the worst weather including wind. If people say theres has blown over they can not have putit up right, as ours stands strong whilst others are getting blown all over the shop

The cost brings with it some poorer quality construction and after 3-4 weeks of camping with it some of the zips are loose and the seams breaking away.It’s pretty easy to pitch – you peg it out and then insert five fibre glass poles. The bedrooms clip in with colour-coded clips, and can be put in or left out as you prefer.
