For 2023, the Hisense Laser TV range is making a change from Android TV (ugh …) to Google TV. This interface upgrade will make using the projector just like navigating a regular smart TV, except in this case one with a 100- or 120-inch screen. The new ambient light rejecting screens that come with Hisense’s projectors have also been upgraded, going from negative gain to 1.0 gain for improved brightness. The Formovie Theater beamed impressive-looking images in both bright and dim lighting conditions. (Image credit: Future) Early verdict The 4K projector is powered by Feng OS, a customized AOSP platform. See our previous post on Android TV vs AOSP to know their differences. You know, the new Fengmi V10 projector looks very good, especially for the price of 6799 yuan in China. This is about 1000 US dollars.

Finally, we can talk about gaming features. You know, the company says this is a gaming projector, because it has 12ms low latency through HDMI 2.1 port and 240Hz refresh rate. For comparison, most TVs have about 40ms latency. So, FENGMI V10 should be even better for console gaming than most smart TVs.But there’s still a lot to love about the Formovie, starting with the sound quality. The V10 has a 30 watt 2.1 channel sound system meaning separate 7.5 watt left and right speakers and a separate 15 watt subwoofer, and it is without a doubt the best sounding projector I’ve ever tested. These lifestyle projectors are meant to be able to be moved from room to room and no matter where you put the V10 you’re going to have plenty of volume and excellent sound quality, and I don’t see any reason why you would want to use a separate soundbar with this projector unless you were going to spend as much money on your sound system as you did on the projector. Hisense had a full range of new projectors on display at CES, including an 8K and several 4K ultra short throw models plus a new laser-driven portable. The one that caught my eye was the L9H TriChroma Laser TV, no doubt due to its triple-laser light engine with exceptional brightness (3,000 ANSI lumens). Like the AWOL UST model, the L9H is specced to deliver 107% coverage of the Rec.2020 color space and features Dolby Vision high dynamic range support out of the box. The projector features the Android TV 11.0 smart TV platform and can stream from apps including HBO Max, Hulu, YouTube, and Disney +. It has Chromecast built-in for wireless casting from a phone, tablet, or laptop, and also comes with a compact remote control with a basic button layout, including one to trigger the projector’s Google Assistant voice control. That last feature can also be accessed via the Theater’s built-in far-field microphone by saying “Hey Google.” As far as the refresh rate claims, I’m highly skeptical for a few reasons. First, the Formovie V10 uses a MediaTek M9669 Chipset, and even though that’s the current top of the line flagship SoC from MediaTek, it clearly lists a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, and second in my testing even though I was able to set the resolution of the V10 to 1080p 240Hz using my graphics card, after recording the screen at 240 frames per second I couldn’t see any difference between the 1080p 120Hz and 1080p 240Hz signals, but I guess being able to accept and properly display a 240Hz signal is still impressive.

We hereby announce that, with immediate effect, the warranty period for Formovie THEATER in ALL countries we ship to has been extended from one year to two years. The native resolution of the new projector is 4K. There are 8.3 mega individual pixels, which is 4 times more than Full HD projectors have. So, there is no point in comparison of 4K and 1080P projectors. As for image size, Formovie V10 can project at most 120 inches, and you can adjust the image size based on the screen or throw distance. System By the way, there is also Miracast and Apple AirPlay support for wireless screen mirroring from mobile devices. The LX-NZ30 is a 1080p DLP design that uses four-way e-shift to achieve 4K on screen resolution. According to JVC, it “supports up to 1080P/240Hz input with latency as low as 6.25ms.” Along with its HDMI connections it features a DisplayPort 1.2a input for direct connection to a PC. The LX-NZ30 has a laser light source with dynamic dimming for improved contrast, and it offers flexible setup options including horizontal and vertical lens shift and a 1.6x optical zoom.As a tri-laser design with individual lasers used to create the red, green, and blue components of color images, the Theater is spec’d for 107% BT.2020 color gamut coverage, and 2,800 ANSI lumens brightness. Image size ranges from 80 to 150 inches, though for my test I used a Spectra Projection Vantage 100-inch 0.5 gain ambient and ceiling light rejecting screen. Instead of watching nonsense on TV or YouTube, I spend my time in the evenings testing products and sharing my passion for technology, travel and photography. Formovie V10 is a budget 4K projector with an innovative design, high brightness, smart features, a powerful system, and a good audio system. It is a pity that it has no Google-certified Android TV system as it is not oriented for the US market. The other shortcoming is that it has an LED light source instead of a laser light source. The brightness of Fengmi V10 reaches 2500ANSI lumens, and it is not only clear and bright in the state of being cast on the wall during the day, but also there is no phenomenon of graying and whitening of the picture due to the decrease of contrast. Formovie V10 has a 118% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, supports 1.07 billion colors, and the color transition is real and natural.

Hands on: Formovie Theater 4K projector review | TechRadar

The compact Theater's gray case makes it a good option for viewing in dark rooms. (Image credit: Future) Design and featuresAnother manufacturer exhibiting their product assortment was Formovie. Formovie Technology is a joint venture between Appotronics, the maker of the projection industry’s most popular laser light source technologies and Xiaomi Technology. The Formovie Theater’s sleek design and bright, living room friendly image makes it a good choice for watching TV in a relatively well-lit room. And when you turn off the lights for movie viewing, its punchy contrast and very good shadow detail will do the best discs and streams justice. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to know the exact conditions and equipment that each manufacturer uses in their testing, so the best I can do is make sure my own methods stay standardized throughout all of my testing, and when I measured the Formovie V10’s brightness I came up with just 1391 ANSI lumens, which is only 55% of its advertised brightness. In terms of color, Formovie V10 adopts contrasting colors of sunset golden color and flaxen color, whose color matching is harmonious and comfortable. Light Source In terms of wireless connectivity, Formovie V10 supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and various wireless screen mirroring (Airplay, Miracast, and DLNA).

With 4K resolution, the projector can produce sharp images with 8.3 million pixels. Regarding colors, the projector has 118% coverage of DCI P3 and 10Bit color depth, producing crisp images with rich details. As for HDR, it can decode HDR 10+. The MEMC can effectively eliminate some image problems such as jitter and trailing and produce a smooth viewing effect. Al Griffin has been writing about and reviewing A/V tech since the days LaserDiscs roamed the earth, and was previously the editor of Sound & Vision magazine. HDMI inputs are located on the projector's rear panel, including 1 with eARC. (Image credit: Future) PerformanceThe booth offers opportunities to have an immersive experience with the full range of products in person under different usage scenarios, and attendees can explore the image quality, sound performance and advanced laser technology of the latest additions. By the way, I forgot to tell you about MT9669 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory in the new projector. There is also FENGMI operating system, so you can watch YouTube, Netflix, or install any other Android apps. Price and Buy You should also know about speakers. Fengmi V10 has a built-in speaker system, which consists of two 7.5W speakers and 15W subwoofer. Now, I want to show you a piece of video with an audio sample. The sound is amazing. The new projector runs on Android operating system, but there are also various connectivity options, such as two USB ports, HDMI 2.1, HDMI ARC, 3.5mm audio in and LAN Ethernet. So, you can connect a game console to the new Fengmi projector without any problems. Front-panel indicator LEDs let you know remote control commands are being received. (Image credit: Future)
