Even so, when it takes over Gotham it allows crime to run rampant, not caring about deaths that occur indirectly from its actions.

In Spite of a Nail: Brought up during Batman's final clash with Red Mask; Batman admits that he's always wondered if he's the reason for the Joker's evil, but meeting Red Mask assures him that the Joker would have always been evil, even if Red Mask is ultimately more pathetic than the clown. Bruce defeats Ra's al Ghul in combat, but is stabbed in the back by Talia al Ghul, who takes Ra's al Ghul. While talking to his girlfriend Dana, Bruce reveals he wants to be a cop, but Dana laughs and tells Bruce that the only reason why he wants to be a cop is because of vengeance. The Dark Knight was scrambling for a solution the entire time, but he never actually had a plan beyond what he improvised at the moment.

Faking the Dead: The final part of the "Two Birds, One Thorn" backup feature reveals that the Penguin had faked his death to get away from his obsession with crime and Batman and let his children take over. Bruce Wayne is at a turning point, haunted by dreams of a dark future, while Gotham City billionaires are being gruesomely murdered. We spoke to Zdarsky about the book and the process of writing a character as storied as the Caped Crusdader.

There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds. Considering Chip Zdarsky has been doing wonders with his current run on Daredevil, it is only a matter of time before he was going to tackle Batman, who is the closest DC analogue to the Man Without Fear. In our second arc with [artist Mike Hawthorne], we’re experiencing a Gotham that doesn’t have a Batman, and it’s just lousy in different ways Considering that when Zur was first summoned to fight an activated Failsafe, it becomes clear that the backup personality was just wasting Batman's time.Zur now deems Bruce unfocused and weak, citing that he no longer has the skills necessary to keep Gotham safe. I've been having a lot of fun reading Zdarsky's Marvel work so hearing that he's going to give Batman a try was very exciting. The thing I don't like about this book is, recently, I have just read too many books of Batman bring on the back foot or getting to put it another way, getting his butt kicked. I’ve praised this backup in the past, and I still think it’s a much more entertaining read than the main story. By becoming Batman, he managed to not only conquer the demons of his inner turmoil but also gave back to his city.
