But see, the heroine's life is shit and that's what makes it so dark. It might have mafia undertones and talks about gang wars or whatever, what makes the story dark is Ayla herself. Marcus, Ryland, and Theo are the H. They are very wealthy, but we never hear about them actually working. They live in a huge mansion, have nice clothes, and garage filled with expensive cars, etc. Ayla is realistic compared to other mafia FMCs in the sense that once she entered this world she didn't remain completely innocent or turn into a complete badass. Don't get me wrong, she is awesome, it's just she's her own brand of awesome. She is trying to get tougher but isn't automatically amazing at shooting guns and fighting people.

There was a level of corniness in this book that I just couldn’t get over. Major eye rolling happened. Ayla isn’t weak per se, and of course it’s important to promote a persons ability to overcome physical limitations, but the level of corniness throughout the dialogue overshadowed the attempt to give her character the strong willed vibe that she needed to have in the world she was dropped into. It felt really forced. At least for me.I want to feel like I just can’t read the words fast enough and thinking about morning breath kills it for me 🤷🏻‍♀️. RH though she's involved with only Marcus here I believe, the connection with the other 2 exists however The only thing with this book was that it was more plot oriented than the first one. I personally am not a big fan of plot and prefer character and relationship development. While this book did have that, the driving force was the plot. There was nothing wrong with it and I actually was intrigued by what was happening, but I ultimately did enjoy this a slight bit less than first one. It’s not because the book was bad or anything, it’s just personal preference. One random night out at a club changed her life.. forever. She'll never be the same. She didn't have much going for her and she still doesn't.

Nothing like a little obsession to put some pep in a girls step (when it’s wanted of course). Then again it’s really the least she deserves after putting her life on the line for a handsome stranger. While struggling to get by heroine Ayla realizes that day two years ago still haunts her in the form of three dangerous men who just keep turning up. Ayla is very very brave though I would argue at times she’s a bit dumb too. She doesn’t think everything through but I think a lot of that has to do with her being unaware until the end what kind of world she’s now been dragged into. Marcus, Ryland (love his name so much), and Theo are our H’s. Marcus is top dog, a bit obsessive, and has the prettiest eyes ever. Ryland is hard and closed off and Theo is our pretty boy that balances them out.So again, I give this author props, because I kind of liked this whole plot. It was very twisted and dark. I mean, this is a book this isn’t real life. I like how the relationship continues to evolve with all the MCs. I’m not a prude by any means, you can’t be when you read reverse harem, but sometimes there’s just a time and place for sex and some of the times and some of the places made me roll my eyes. When she is not writing her novels she can be found lounging with her husband and puppy, bingeing Netflix shows and drinking wine. She is also huge on travel and loves to see new things and new places which are usually the inspiration for many of her novels. This foursome is exciting and sexy. I’m so excited to explore more of their dynamic and how see how their story unfolds! Also, I need to not have to live with that cliffy for too long— ya girl is over here biting her nails in anticipation for answers! Callie Rose has said that she loves writing for long stretches of time as compared to many of her friends who write in short bursts. She can often be found sitting at her laptop where she can stay for hours writing to exhaustion.

While she has found new friends, Harlow is stressed out given that her mother is in jail. Because of her stress, she often misses school as she does not have the motivation to do her school work while she is working on trying to get her mother out. I will skim the end to just see what happens, but honestly I just don't care about these characters anymore. For having romance in this RH, I felt no romantic connection with Ayla with the other two guys besides Marcus, since she rarely hung out with the other two guys.Ayla is with Marcus all of book one and kissed Theo to make him jealous and leave her alone. Didn’t work out but she ended up liking kissing Theo and Theo liked it too. Sweet Obsession was kind of a fantastic read but too sad to really enjoy. Even if I sometimes like my romances dark, I wanted to cry all the time. Although they were at the stage of being bonded through their blond, however, they are still getting to know each other and took their time in professing their feelings. Still, she does say that the longer she has been writing the better she gets as she feels like she channels her character that she feels like she is in a movie watching them.

Before I go on, please note there are spoilers so if you don’t want to know what happens, do not read any further. ** It's taken me way too long to finish this series because rather than wanting it to end, I've kept putting this off and re-read the first two lol. I skimmed further and Marcus is still alive but I can’t read anymore to find when and how this story ends. Here’s the thing, I’ve read well over 200 books this year, not all of them were great, but I was HIGHLY anticipating the final book of this series for SO long and it fell ridiculously flat for me.Ayla hasn’t had an easy go of things. Getting bounced around in the system from a young age, she’s had to deal with some traumatic issues in her young life, but it isn’t until one fateful night at a club when her life gets changed forever. Her path crosses with Marcus Constantine and their fate was entwined from that night forward. This is the kind of love they talk about in history books as the reason wars are started. The reason empires rise and fall.” This was something I didn’t feel through the first two books.. like AT ALL.. so it’s really hard to put my finger on the exact reason I felt this way through this book. All I can boil it down to is I just felt a disconnect with her character this time around. And I re-read the first two books before starting the third! The storyline wasn’t bad. The turns the plot took were creative and while a few things were predictable, I wasn’t disappointed I figured it out before the characters.
