Rule #9: Recognize that life is a cruel taskmaster and that either you master it or it masters you. There is no halfway or compromising point. Never accept from life anything you do not want. If that which you do not want is temporarily forced upon you, you can refuse, in your own mind, to accept it and it will make way for the thing you do want. Fear is the compass to more life. Breathe, and overcome. Notice that every time you get close to the perceived monster, it vanishes. The fear is not real. It’s only a state of mind. Rule #6: Recognize that your greatest asset is time, the only thing except for the power of thought which you own outright, and the one thing which can be shaped into whatever material things you want. Budget your time so none of it is wasted.

If you drift in one direction and you will drift in all directions. Use your mind, don't let it be occupied. Do you know that the darkest hour is just before the dawn? – Don’t give up, even when things get unbearably difficult.Mastery over self. Discipline equals freedom. If you’re driven by impulse all your life, you’ll go nowhere, like a drifter. You will discover that the cause of success is not something separate and apart from the man; that it is a force so intangible in nature that the majority of men never recognize it; a force which might be properly called the ‘other self.’” Wisdom is the ability to relate yourself to nature's laws so they can serve you. And the ability to relate to other people to gain their cooperation to make life what it can be" (not exact)

This is just one part of why I disliked this book. I saw a ton of other major concerns related to the way you should bring up children, among other things. If you are eager to undertake this job, you must interview not only those who succeeded but also those who have failed. We go about life never questioning who we truly are and how we got to this state in the first place.Definiteness of purpose : Hill emphasizes the importance of having a clear, defined goal in life. By developing a sense of purpose, individuals can combat the Devil's attempts to keep them drifting and directionless. Controlling environmental influence (associations - avoid associating with people who bring you down) Mastery over self : Hill stresses the importance of self-discipline and taking control of one's thoughts, emotions, and actions. By mastering oneself, an individual can resist the Devil's efforts to exploit their weaknesses and fears. Rule #5: Recognize that your brain is a receiving set that can be attuned to receive communications from the universal storehouse of infinite intelligence, to help you transmute your desires into their physical equivalent.

Mr. Carnegie was surprised to hear that Hill planned to get his degree by interviewing successful people and writing their stories in magazines. Definiteness of purpose. Choose a purpose, a grand aspiration, a big goal, and move towards it relentlessly. Harmony ( acting with audacity and purpose to take control and influence over your mental, spiritual, and physical environment) Drifting is all consuming, leaving the person looking to materialistic and unhelpful things for temporary feelings of joy and escape. In the cycle of drifting a person cannot differentiate between a thought and a feeling, a feeling becomes a thought and therefore feelings are what are consistently acted on. Description Outwitting the Devil: The Complete Text, Reproduced from Napoleon Hill’s Original Manuscript, Including Never-Before Published ContentI saw this in me for decades in fact until I stopped to think how ridiculous it all really was. For the fear of poverty I slept on the streets for 3 nights just so I could see how bad things could really get. I met new people, made some cash, and felt freer than I had for years. That action led me to overcoming this silly fear. The person who moves with definiteness of purpose recognizes the difference between temporary defeat and failure. When plans fail he substitutes others but he does not change his purpose. He perseveres." Going into his fictitious interview with evil incarnate, Hill already knew one of the primary tools in the devil’s belt: fear. A few years earlier, Hill had received a death threat. He ended up hiding with relatives for over a year, paralyzed. One night, he finally went outside and found what Carnegie had told him about years before: Drifting is what human beings begin doing as they take in the conscious, subconscious, and subliminal messages coming in from the outside. They slowly begin drifting towards helplessness which leads to the inability to think for themselves. Drifters believe they’re powerless.

Harmony (acting with definiteness of purpose to become the dominating influence in your own mental, spiritual and physical environment.) If you do nothing, you will be auto-enrolled in our premium digital monthly subscription plan and retain complete access for 65 € per month. But the dancing – just hold on to that. To see bodies defy all ordinary limits, to be absorbed in their constant transformation, to witness the grace and control, to feed on their ever-changing energy and be drawn into their orbit. That is something that needs no explanation. Rule #3: Analyze temporary defeat, no matter what nature or cause, and extract from it the seed of an equivalent advantage.

The book title ‘Outwitting The Devil’ will trigger some, and challenge others. The choice is yours on how to approach this vital read.

Flattery doesn't effect non-drifters. Drifters love it, they love vanity and egotism. Reminds me of the book "you are loved" with the dots and stars. Controlling environmental influence. Who you hang out with matters. What your room looks like matters.
