I have several friends who love theirs, and they are able to use the cutting plates from other machines (ie Sizzix and QuicKutz).

Just make sure to keep your user manual to refer to the plate combinations you'll need to die-cut and emboss. The **Cuttlebug **comes in both Mint and Blue Colour Themes as well as Two Bundles and several Accessories, Dies and Embossing Folders. The cutting dies give you the flexibility to cut various materials including -paper, card, chipboard, plastic, foam and more! You can also review the Cuttlebug Sandwich Guide by Personal Diecutting to find out how to position the Plates and Mats with dies and embossing folders from different brands. This is Leftovers VI, and instead of my usual linocut, I created this drypoint etching of a farmer ploughing a field in the Welsh countryside. The larger folder is great for making background embossing and the smaller version is perfect for gift tags and also for embossing small messages.

I recently got a Cricut Cuttlebug Mint, a portable, hand-cranked, die cutting and embossing machine. The Cricut Cuttlebug can use embossing folders and cutting dies to create elements that add dimension to your DIY projects. Align the embossed section with the design in the folder before running the folder through the machine again. With the dies, embossing folder, Plates, and Mat that come in the box, you are ready to make your first project… sort of.

I tried to find a way to use a larger piece of paper and send it through the machine more than once, lining up the edges, but it won’t work with the design of the machine. Please look at our glossary where most are caught, or why not a bit of history on how scrapbooking has occurred ? With all of this technology in my hands, why would I be interested in checking out the (relatively) “old school” Cricut Cuttlebug? The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. I happened have a scrap piece of Gold Adhesive Foil left from my DIY Christmas Tree Decoration tutorial and a small notebook that I got for free at a conference with me, and that’s how the idea for the gratitude notebook was born.As we continue to come out with new products, sometimes we have to make hard decisions about existing product lines that we can no longer support. While you can use your Cricut Explore or Maker to emboss (just check out this tutorial by Clever Someday to find out how), embossing with the Cuttlebug is very straightforward. A suction plate allows the machine to stay firmly in place whilst running the dies or embossing folders through the steel rollers. This will guarantee a quality embossed image once you have processed the folder through the machine. The different spacer plates also make the Cricut Cuttlebug machine compatible with most leading folders and dies — so you can save money and use the dies and folders you already own.

So I tried it, reading what I could of the instructions (which were not clear on how to arrange the paper, die and plates). A clear window on the spine lets consumers label the binder when storing on a shelf, and the handle and a luggage tag allow for portability when consumers are on the go. Cricut is committed to making amazing products that expand the creative possibilities for all of our members. I used a small off-cut piece of recyclable sheet acrylic , and drew my design onto it using a permanent marker. This entry was posted in Art, Printmaking and tagged Cuttlebug, Drypoint Etching, Farming, International Print Exchange, Print, Printmaking, Sandy Craig Artist, Wales, Welsh by sandycraigartist. It's just disappointing that I couldn't use it on my crafting cause it does not fit with my empress machine but it's not the seller's fault. Cricut does include a brochure, but if you prefer video help, I recommend this short video by Anna Griffin. I’ve had the Cuttlebug for a few months now (and, yes, there are more projects on the way) and there are a lot of things to like about it. It works just fine for printing etchings and relief prints, however it is limited by its size, printing to a maximum of approximately 14 x 18 cms.
