The scene where he had her read a book while he touched her, stole my breath. I am so excited for King of Greed because Allesandra and Dominic had many dialogues here, and they were both so good?? Though, KOP really set the expectations high. i loved isabella. she was so funny and real - like who hasn’t felt like a directionless orb at one point or another in their adulthood, let’s be real.

On that note, I’d also be remiss to mention how Ana Huang has dutifully laid the foundation for Dominic and Alessandra’s failing marriage and, subsequently, their book, King of Greed. I haven’t read a ton of second-chance stories, and none where the characters are already married, but I’m certainly ready for plenty of groveling. Alessandra has already endeared herself to me, and I can’t wait for her to reclaim the relationship she once had with her husband. Everyone could see it coming that someone was trying to purposely sabotage Kai to threaten his position except Kai himself.A self-professed travel enthusiast, she loves incorporating beautiful destinations into her stories and will never say no to a good chai latte. In ‘King of Pride’ we read the story of Isabella and Kai. Isabella is a wannabe author, and works at the bar of an exclusive club to make her money. When she is not working, Isabella works on her book. But things aren’t going as well as she would have liked. The last thing she needs is to be attracted to Kai. Especially since he is everything she shouldn’t want. He is nothing like her. But there is an attraction between them, both can’t deny.

Kai is reserved, a little stoic, and his favorite thing to do is translate books into Latin. He’s one of the billionaire members of Valhalla Club, where Isabella works as a bartender. She’s loud and fun and everything Kai isn’t. Since the moment they've met, there’s been a simmering attraction between them, but they’ve never done anything about it since Isabella can’t risk losing her job. And don’t get me started on my love for my girl Isabella!! She‘s everything I aspire to be! Confident, witty, smart, fun and so freaking charming as well!! She‘s an amazing female lead and I loved reading her POVs and learning more about her character! She honestly deserves the absolute world!! Also the fact that we share so many interests and hobbies made me love her so so sooooo much more!! I just adore when characters are so relatable! It makes the reading experience so much better! Reserved, controlled, and proper to a fault, Kai Young has neither the time nor inclination for chaos—and Isabella, with her purple hair and inappropriate jokes, is chaos personified. King of Pride by Ana Huang Their romance does have a hint of forbidden-ness to it because of the no-fraternization work policy, but honestly? It’s a pretty easy, breezy, smooth romance. There surprisingly isn’t that much angst or drama – like once these two start hanging out more and unknowingly going on dates together, it’s just so… cute?? Kai and Isabella balance each other perfectly, and Kai is sooo good to Isabella, treating her like a QUEEN. Kai is easily my favorite hero so far in the series – I still love Dante, but Kai just GOT me. I love when there’s a cold hero and the heroine is the only one who warms him and brings him to life.I love how Isa and Kai are so different from each other yet they never tried to change the other. They both are unapologetically themselves. Isa is a social butterfly with purple streaked hair and Kai is confident and reserved in every way but they found their love amidst the secret libraries in the confines of Valhalla club and their sparkling chemistry and beaming tension. He would always reassure her and made her feel better. They both were each other’s biggest supporters. He encouraged her a lot and believed in her. As far as the plot goes, Huang allows the romance to develop and capture readers’ attention. Aside from those moments of passionate physical attraction, she also makes sure to give the characters the individual attention that they deserve to develop. While Isabella’s identity as a Filipino Chinese factors in occasionally with references to buko pandan and her lola, it’s the respect for family that really comes across. Familial pressure is a big presence in King of Pride as well; Isabella’s on-top-of-it brother, Gabriel, demands that she make something of her life and achieve something instead of meandering through jobs and not actually having something to show for it.

The Kings of Sin series by Ana Huang is truly a standout in my reading list so far, and I simply cannot wait for the next one! ‘King of Pride’ hit store shelves on August 22, 2023 I loved how sweet and beautiful this story was because the characters were portrayed perfectly. The story was refreshing with healthy and allurung romance of Kai and Isa without any lies and betrayals. You should’ve never let me take you, Isabella. Because now that I have, I won’t be able to let you go.” They both seemed to be attracted to each other from the start and the slow burn was delicious! 🥵 I loved how there was no unnecessary drama and they just acted on their attraction. 🤭😗
