Poetry is compact, meaningful and something to be pondered over, where YA is punchy, fast and riding on the waves of current trends; so it felt jarring to have the two collide in the narrative.

She was supposed to be a main character that we were supposed to love and feel sorry for, but when I was reading it was like she was just there but not there, if you know what I mean? There are some new characters who have their charms (and some that don’t), mysterious underground caverns and blue vials, as well as the colourful pills and banned poetry like “Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night”, by Dylan Thomas.In this compelling memoir, Brian speaks powerfully and movingly about the three battles in his life, from being ambushed with no cover, to the mental battle to adjust at home, to being falsely accused of hideous war crimes. When C-Day breaks out in Japan, Satoshi sets out to find his blood brothers, the Five Bloody Fingers, and help them survive C-Day. Crossed by Ally Condie, is the second in this trilogy and it continues the story of Cassie Reyes as she tries to figure out what the Society is, how to escape it, find the Rebellion and also find Ky, of whom she was separated from at the end of the last book. Peppered with anecdotes involving a cast of hundreds (including Blur, Sean Connery, Tracey Emin, Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chili Peppers), this uncompromising autobiography documents Lush's thrilling rise, dispiriting fall and subsequent bounceback, reliving the tours, recording sessions and problematic managers they experienced along the way. I really need the pacing to quicken up in Reached, because if not, I might just mark it as a DNF and I don't want to do that.

Meanwhile, Ky and the other decoys are moved to Ky's home village where a new shipment of decoys arrives filled with young teenage boys. But frequent relocation, parental neglect and the dark presence of her abusive grandmother resulted in crippling shyness, mental-health issues and a vulnerability to exploitation. Ky finds Indie but learns that Cassia has already been sent to Central Province to serve the Rising within the Society.

Meanwhile, the few surviving non-infected are hardened veterans who have been combating the Crossed for years, further increasing the pressure of natural selection as the Crossed are forced to become smarter and more cunning to catch the survivors off-guard. He is even able to strike deals with survivors, protecting them from the other Crossed in exchange for their assistance in luring out other survivors. The Crossed themselves show considerable variation, as they are still self-aware individuals – albeit turned into homicidal maniacs. S. government was to shut down as many nuclear power plants as possible and then kill the nuclear scientists and technicians to prevent them from reactivating the plants.

D., Crossed numbers began to drop significantly, and eventually regular humans once again outnumber the infected, though small family-groups of Crossed continued to inhabit some areas, breeding new generations by refraining from killing their young. Discussion: Cassia is a little too judgmental about Ky for my tastes, and a little too uncompromising. One hundred years after the initial outbreak, as depicted in Crossed: +100, it is revealed that around 2050 A. I liked Cassia in Matched, I wasn't raving about her, but she was a nice character, I couldn't really connect with her, but I had a sort-of understanding with her. Smokey survives the attempted assassination by jumping into a river, emerging later and limping off to fight another day with a smile on his face.A single Tornado GR1 is launched to intercept the Russians, and the crew sacrifice themselves to prevent nuclear war from breaking out. The second book is split into two points of views, given in alternating chapters, so that we not only hear from Cassia but from Ky as well.
