CeraVe makes some great products for acne-prone skin. However, I think they are not as good as the Effaclar range by La Roche-Posay. What seems to be a true difference, though, is that the salt form is more stable, easier to formulate andcheaper so it pops up more often on the ingredient lists. Though the moisturizer is made for acne-prone skin, it’s also great for oily and combination skin. We also love that it’s fragrance-free and appreciate the budget-friendly price. Yes, many dermatologists recommend La Roche Posay, and it has also become a favorite among many users. The lotion relies on four key ingredients—shea butter, beeswax, soy proteins, and aloe vera—to hydrate your skin and seal in moisture. And it did a great job refreshing our skin. The lotion boosted moisture in our face by 24 to 40 percent, according to our moisture reader, while reducing oil by 2 to 16 percent. It also calmed the redness in our cheeks and made our skin feel smoother.

This product is so easy to use, you don’t have to think twice about incorporating it into your daily skincare routine. Howard Epstein, Ph.D., Director of Technical Services for EMD Performance Materials, adds that the best moisturizers should include "a combination of emollients, humectants, and occlusives." Here's a breakdown of these three categories: fragrance ingredient, opacifying agent, surfactant - cleansing agentsurfactant-cleansing agent is included as a function for the soap form of myristic acid., cleansing, emulsifying, perfuming A unique ingredient in the formula is “Aqua Posae Filiformis”, one of the brand’s patented ingredients that’s cultivated in the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water. According to the brand, this ingredient helps alleviate extra-dry skin by rebalancing the skin microbiome and helping repair the skin barrier. While Glossier’s After Baume made our skin feel hydrated, it also made it feel oily and greasy—and took a while to soak in. We’d happily use the moisturizer to spot-treat dry patches, but it felt too heavy for everyday wear. Most products of La Roche Posay are good for all skin types, plus they can treat conditions like eczema, itchiness, or dryness. Double action helps repair skin’s natural protective barrier after 1-hour and provide up to 48-hour hydration. Produces a unique prebiotic action on the skin microbiome and restores healthy-looking skin What We Don't Like: The heavy-hitting ingredients may be too drying for dry or sensitive skin types.

La Roche-Posay wins when it comes to sunscreen. Their Anthelios range offers a broader selection than CeraVe, and many of their products provide a higher level of SPF than CeraVe. Because the moisturizer contains essential oils, like lavender and tea tree oil, it has a strong smell—and we didn’t love the fragrance. Since we appreciate the emphasis on natural ingredients, we’re happy to tolerate the smell. And we suspect we might get used to it the more we wear this moisturizer. Dr. Zeichner recommends this cream to his patients with sensitive skin and eczema, since it contains “ceramides to help repair the outer skin layer along with botanical extracts that have been shown to soothe inflammation in the skin.” It’s also formulated without parabens, fragrances, or dyes, all of which can be irritating to sensitive skin types.months later, I’m on my 5th bottle. My face is supple, even, and I barely wear makeup. (cc cream by it, & that’s it.) Great moisturizers hydrate your skin, support your skin barrier, and seal in moisture, King says. And if you don’t moisturize your face, you might miss out on some of those benefits. Without moisturizer, your skin may dry out—especially if you have dry or mature skin. But even people with oily skin need moisturizer to keep their skin healthy and hydrated, Lin says. I have tried CeraVe products which include hydrating sunscreen, and body lotion. From these products, I noticed that they also contains ceramides to ensure its multifunctional persistence.

La Roche-Posay created their product to treat oily, sensitive skin prone to spots and blemishes, which I mostly see on my skin. It also contains Zinc PCA (zinc sodium of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid), which aids in controlling oil production and killing acne-causing bacteria. CeraVe is said to be best for those with sensitive, dry, normal, and oily skin. Of course, this is also a great choice for those who are experiencing acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Embryolisse’s Lait-Crème Concentré doesn’t just hydrate your skin—it also smooths and soothes it. And 15 minutes after using it, we saw a dramatic difference in skin tone and texture. Overall, we think that La Roche Posay moisturizers are formulated well, especially for those that are made specifically for sensitive skin. Pros As I tried it, these products are hypoallergenic, suitable for normal to dry skin type, and all are free of fragrance, soap, and oil. You can see the comparison table below before I detail these products. We also like that this top-notch moisturizer is budget-friendly. And since a little goes a long way, the 1.5-ounce tub of cream should last you a while. La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water provides prebiotic benefits to help rebalance the skin microbiome, and is naturally rich in minerals with scientifically demonstrated soothing and antioxidant properties
