Her third book, Meet Me in Milan was also a number one best seller on pre-sales alone and it hits the shelves on the 17 th of August. And amidst all the unrefined concupiscence and gleefully abandoned foundation garments there is tenderness too and the eternal struggle of a young woman seeking reassurance and validation about her looks and experiences. I devoured this book in 24 hours, which was full of laugh out loud moments and inwards groans as we follow Zara on her dating journey. I know many of the places mentioned in the story including Glasgow Caledonian University and felt like I was back there while I was listening. I also felt like she was quite stuck up, making negative comments about things like using the subway and taking busses like… have you been in Glasgow before?

I loved this book but it was a little cringe for me in some scenes which is why I have rated it 3 stars. This book follows Zara, who is sick of being single so she joins dating apps and embarks on some whirlwind experiences.

Laughed all the way through this book true witty heartfelt take on glasgow / Lanarkshire and the trials and tribulations of modern dating.

Step into the love shack with Sophie as she dishes out dating disasters, romance gone wrong, and so much more, all served with a side-splitting dose of cringe as well as humour! We all could be Zara, we all can feel her pain and delusion, and on the other hand we all can't help but giggle whenever she finds herself in sticky situations (or in steamy ones! Overall ‘A Glasgow Kiss’ is fun, flirty and an easy going read that will be sure to improve a rainy weekend and put a smile on a readers face.A headbutt or a strike with the head to someone’s sensitive areaMeet Zara Smith: 29, single and muddling her way through life as a trainee nurse in Glasgow. Instead of the book being a romance it’s about self love (something you don’t really get until the end because she has no development until then) and that could be been better written and portrayed through the whole book, she could have started to stick up for herself more, you could have seen her change things but I just didn’t get that feel from her unfortunately.

My only gripe was what felt an unnecessary and excessive use of the C-word, it’s a personal preference but I felt the book would have been fine without it and Zara’s personality would still have shone through. The 29-year-old from Bellshill, North Lanarkshire has followers in hysterics through riotous anecdotes she posts on her page, Sex In The Glasgow City. These adverts enable local businesses to get in front of their target audience – the local community. Then there’s the date with Barry, her teenage crush from many years ago and of course Pablo, the very handsome bartender.I loved the main characters clumsy, loveable and hilarious traits and the events she got herself into had me in stitches! The NHS nurse and single mum-of-two from Bellshill joined 200 of her friends, family and colleagues at the Corinthian in Glasgow where everyone toasted to her success. Were it better written and edited I’d have enjoyed it more but grammar issues, strange capitalisation (“walking through the Streets”), spelling mistakes (b-line instead of bee line) and justification issues (words spread across the page) really put me off. We watch her plunge head over heels in love with an older man, as we belly laugh at the antics she performs, using every trick and tip from her friends to make sure his love is reciprocated.

Bookface started on Facebook last year in the midst of the pandemic and the group has now grown to an astonishing 1800 members worldwide and features a book swap, prosecco, brunch and monthly get-together. In fact, EVERYONE says “good job on that break up and being so depressed you don’t take care of yourself for a week, not even to eat, because you look GREAT skinny! We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. The story is dull and predictable and even Glasgow as a setting is pointless because none of the geography makes sense (taxi from the Italian Centre to George Square? She describes popular cafes, restaurants and landscapes throughout the novel- keen to shed light to the city’s beloved gems.

Several of my female friends have relayed tales of meeting blokes who think that the simple act of agreeing to go on a date is a contractual guarantee of sex. Post moderation is undertaken full-time 9am-6pm on weekdays, and on a part-time basis outwith those hours. Heather Suttie, the Scottish events and PR specialist, was thrilled when she first read A Glasgow Kiss. When Sophie Gravia started anonymously blogging about encounters with male suitors in 2018, she never thought it would lead to her becoming a published author. She was so needy for love, she had no respect for herself and as much as I can handle that sometimes she was just missing some feisty spunk.
