Description

It’s hard to find fault with the Pure Evoke C-F6. It’s a fully-equipped all-in-one music machine with practically every bell and whistle you could need from a single-room audio device. What’s more, when you turn this device on and start using it, you’re sure to be impressed by how much value it offers. What Hi-Fi?, founded in 1976, is the world's leading independent guide to buying and owning hi-fi and home entertainment products. Our comprehensive tests help you buy the very best for your money, with our advice sections giving you step-by-step information on how to get even more from your music and movies. Everything is tested by our dedicated team of in-house reviewers in our custom-built test rooms in London, Reading and Bath. Our coveted five-star rating and Awards are recognised all over the world as the ultimate seal of approval, so you can buy with absolute confidence. The stereo has a range of control options, but if you’re not opting to use its mobile app, you’re going to spend time looking at its 2.8” color screen. It’s a TFT display type, which pales in comparison to what you’d get from a modern mobile device. But in a device that’s ostensibly to be listened to rather than looked at we thought the screen didn't negatively impact the overall experience.

Pure Evoke C-D6 All-in-One Music System with DAB/DAB+/FM

Built-in Bluetooth lets you choose your favourite music, streaming service or internet radio station and play it direct from your phone or tablet without trailing wires. If being able to listen to thousands of radio stations via the internet sounds exciting, the Evoke F3 could be a good buy. It’s a very modern and reliable radio with lots of smart features, and can connect with your phone, laptop and other devices. This particular radio system comes with an attractive real-wood casing, which is common throughout the Evoke portfolio. We really appreciated how immersive it felt to use this radio and the fact that we could access Bluetooth streaming as well as DAB. Another thing we enjoyed about the Pure Evoke C-D6 is the fact that it’s future-proof. We’re not just talking about being able to access Bluetooth streaming here, either.

There’s a much bigger sense of scale than you get with one of its smaller siblings such as the Evoke D4. To go with the quantity of sound, there’s a decent level of quality too. This all-in-one system in the Evoke range combines digital radio and easy wireless Bluetooth connections with a CD player and FM connectivity. On the downside, one slight performance issue we had was that the remote wasn’t always very responsive. We had to make sure we were pointing the device directly at the radio for it to work. Similar radios

By the time we finished our Pure Evoke CD-6 review, it was clear to us that this radio is one that you can easily fall in love with. Other features include twin alarms, which can be set to a station of your choice, and the touch-sensitive Snoozehandle which sits on top of the radio. There’s no Internet radio – for that you’ll need to investigate the Evoke F4 or rival radios such as the Roberts Stream 93i. Like the D2, the Evoke D4 is also available with Bluetooth. This lets you stream internet radio or MP3s from your phone, MP3 player or laptop (provided they have Bluetooth). The Evoke D4 with Bluetooth comes in a maple veneer casing. It has the same features and design as the regular D4 except for offering Bluetooth connectivity.

PURE Evoke C-D6 DAB+/FM Bluetooth Clock Radio - Walnut

Its main flaw is the CD player, which can be temperamental and slow to read CDs. However, the Evoke C-D6 performs very well on the whole. Similar radios Part of the comprehensive Pure Evoke line, which also includes the C-D4 and the C-F8, the Evoke C-D6 is a mid-level all-in-one radio created with a focus on functionality and style. As part of the Evoke all-in-one music system collection, you can expect an easy-to-use interface with the CD-6, including intuitive and simple controls. The Evoke C-D6 is also impressive when it comes to sound quality.Dialogue heard through the studio of Radio 5 Live sounds relatively warm and detailed. It’s easy to latch onto what people are saying. The Evoke C-D6 is a top of the line all-in-one music system with access to DAB and FM radio, an easy-to-use CD player, and Bluetooth connectivity. Despite a relatively compact design, you’ll get a room-filling stereo that’s ideal for drenching your home in sound. Pure Evoke D6 with Bluetooth review Solid and dependable, the Evoke D6 is a fine option if you're on the hunt for a DAB radio...

Evoke C-D6, Walnut, EU/UK | Radio/CD Players | Radios - Pure

The Ruark Audio R4 MK3 has a similar design to the Evoke C-D6 and offers similar features including a CD player and Bluetooth as well as FM/DAB/DAB+. The R4 MK3 has superior sound quality to the Evoke C-D6, though it is significantly more expensive. If you’re a real audiophile and want a top-of-the-range radio/CD player, the Ruark Audio R4 MK3 could be what you’re looking for. The D6 features custom drive units and a 20W digital amplifier behind the front grilles. Pure offers some of its speakers in a mono configuration, but the D6 fires sound out in stereo, and it’s all the better (and louder) for it. The main difference between the Evoke D6 and the Evoke D4 is that the D6 has two built-in speakers, offering stereo sound. This radio has an attractive real oak wood design. Features While the digital display on this product isn’t in colour, it’s clear enough to read even from a few feet away, which is a nice bonus. A closer look at the display might make you think you’re using an internet radio! On the front of the device, you’ll see the iconic Pure logo, two sizable stereo speakers, tuning and volume knobs, along with a range of buttons for controlling your CD player and radio. Some buyers found their radio suddenly stopped working (though it does come with a 3-year warranty) You can store 15 presets each for DAB and FM and these can be accessed through the corresponding buttons on the remote control. Despite these qualities, rivals offer greater clarity and insight, and they do a better job of communicating dynamic shifts. Detail levels are fine for the money and the general balance isn’t bass or treble heavy. Push the Pure hard and its balanced approach stops everything from descending into a crashy, brash affair.
