Sandwich Tern DE35568 was ringed at the Ythan estuary (Aberdeenshire) on 26 July 2013 and sighted at Findhorn on 22 August 2013. Knot N3RYGG was ringed at De Richel, Waddensea (NETHERLANDS) on 23 September 2012 and sighted at Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 29 January 2017, after 4 years 4 months.

Sandwich Tern DB93018 was ringed at the Ythan estuary (Aberdeenshire NK0025) on 20 June 2000 and sighted on Findhorn beach (NJ0364) on 27 July 2017, after 17 years 1 month. Knot orange EVT (SR23803) was ringed at Ainsdale (Merseyside) on 27 July 2020 and sighted in Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 23 November 2020, after 3 months 3 weeks. Knot JXL (SR75606) was ringed at Nigg (Highland) on 11 February 2021 and sighted at Garso (Orkney) on 27 May 2021, at Frampton Marsh (Lincolnshire) on 28 July 2021 and in Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 22 March 2022, after 1 year 1 month. Knot orange JXM (SR75607) was ringed at Nigg (Highland) on 11 February 2021 and sighted in Findhorn Bay (NJ0463) on 11 November 2021, after 9 months. Sandwich Tern DD92434 was ringed on Inner Farne, Farne Islands (Northumberland) on 17 July 2013 and sighted at Findhorn on 21 August 2013.Pink-footed Goose ISR02236 (orange collar VVS) was ringed at Jokuldalsheidi (ICELAND) on 24 July 2017 and sighted at Clochan (NJ4061) on 12 December 2017, after 4 months 3 weeks. Whooper Swan A10039 (orange ZUA) was ringed at Fljotsheidi (ICELAND) on 23 August 2015 and sighted in Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 29 October 2017, after 2 years 2 months.

Knot orange JHJ (ST93181) was ringed at Ardersier (Highland) on 21 December 2021 and sighted at Richel, Friesland (NETHERLANDS) on 15 October 2022, at Burghead (NJ1169) on 26 January 2023 and in Findhorn Bay (NJ0462) on 21 February 2023, after 1 year 2 months.The mouth of the river is easily viewed from Tugnet but upstream from here to the viaduct much of the river is obscured by riparian woodland. This upstream section of the river is however mostly accessible along the edge of the golf course on the western side. The muddy estuary is best viewed from the Kingston side although distant views with a telescope are possible from Tugnet. Sandwich Tern DD25952 was ringed at the Ythan estuary (Aberdeenshire) on 17 June 2003 and sighted at Findhorn on 12 August 2013. Herring Gull GV31815 (Y144) was ringed at York on 26 February 2016 and sighted on the Lossie estuary (NJ2470) on 10 September 2016, 12 September 2017 and again on 1 January 2018, after 1 year 10 months. By contrast, only a handful of Pintail could be seen 10 years ago, but in the winter of 2014-15 there were regularly over 200 and their numbers seem to be steadily increasing year after year. Teal and Goldeneye will also be present all winter, but in smaller numbers. The channels of the Findhorn River in the south western corner are some of the hardest to get to but some of the birds that can be seen here include Little Grebe, Common Sandpiper, Grey Wagtail and on rare occasions Kingfisher and Little Egret. In winter there will also be good numbers of Teal, Mute Swan and Grey Heron.
