A cordless product should last just as long as the corded one it's replacing, and a battery that can't be replaced virtually guarantees that it won't. Not only is the warranty often shorter, but we've found a number of products, including cordless vacuum cleaners from Russell Hobbs, Vax, and Morphy Richards, where the battery cannot be replaced. So if a problem with the battery occurs, your vacuum could start to gather dust, instead of collecting it.

These are all products where we know the battery is one of the leading causes of early failure, and where we know from survey data that you expect a Best Buy to last longer than the battery is likely to.Coming with an array of tools, the Supervac gives that ease of cleaning to every diligent housekeeper. With a crevice tool giving access to those smaller hard to reach areas, Lithium-ion batteries, the main type of battery used in cordless appliances, gradually lose the ability to hold charge over time. So not being able to replace the battery limits the usable lifetime of your product. SUPERVAC is there for you – worldwide: We rely on a strong presence, together with our sales and service partners. Your success and satisfaction as our customer is our credo. We also reached out to Russell Hobbs and Morphy Richards for comment, but haven't had a response yet. Vax's newest Blade 3 and 4 cordless models, which launched on 29 January 2020, do have replaceable batteries. But some older models, including the Vax Blade 2 Max, don't.

The Supervac has a dual power switch, giving you the option of turbo-charged cleaning on full power or energy-saving cleaning on the low setting. A negative pressure ventilation blower (a Smoke Ejector or Blower/ Exhauster) is positioned at an exit point to pull air away from the space, creating negative pressure to remove the heat, smoke or contaminated air. Many of these fans feature Super Vac’s patented spiral blade that creates a more concise, direct air flow, ideal for: Interestingly, the Supervac is one of the few cleaners we have ever tested that the powered brush bar cannot be turned off and runs constantly. We are not great fans of this idea as when it comes to hard floors, particularly easily damaged surfaces such as softwood parquet, there is a danger of damage if small bits of stone or gravel get caught up in the brushes. In many cases, this is well before the expected end-of-life of the product. If the battery isn't replaceable, it means the whole appliance is a write-off, even if everything else is in perfect condition. Sadly that is not the case when it gets to your carpet edges. A cursory look at the underside of the 008 reveals that the brush bar and man air-flow channel are inset a long way from the edge of the floorhead. The result is very poor edge cleaning with residual test powder showing over 1cm out from the skirting board edge.On the first trial switch on we could see the brush bar spinning and hear something – but not a lot. The 008 is spectacularly quiet and you could probably clean up around a sleeping baby without waking them. At just 72dB that is much, much lower than most mains powered vacuum cleaners and quieter than the majority of cordless ones we have tested too. That sort of noise level is about same as your TV watching daytime programme, so really not intrusive at all. That's bad news for you, as you have to shell out for a replacement earlier than expected, and bad news for the environment, too, as it creates needless waste. Powered by 21.6V Lithium-Ion batteries for a longer-lasting charge, it cleans for up to 50 minutes on low power or up to 24 minutes on full power. A battery indicator light lets you know when it’s running out of juice and it comes with a plug-in charger so it can be fully charged in 5 hours or less.

Lightweight, with a swivel head for greater manoeuvrability, the Supervac’s illuminated cleaning head makes it easy to see exactly where dirt is lurking and is especially useful for cleaning under furniture or into corners and poorly lit recesses. David Winterbottom, Vax UK Managing Director, says: 'Vax has spent the last two years investing in our new ONEPWR battery technology, a replaceable lithium-ion battery unit that provides high cleaning performance with up to 45 minutes run time, and is shareable across our new range of floor-care products.'A positive pressure ventilation fan (or PPV) is positioned at the entry to push air into the space, creating pressure that moves heat, smoke or contaminated air out of an exit point. The Super Vac PPV fan features a chopper blade, which moves a wider mass of air, ideal for: There’s no need to adjust the cleaning head as you hoover and the motorised brush head passes effortlessly from hard to carpeted surfaces without losing suction and remaining quiet. As cordless products become increasingly popular, and our research shows that early battery failure is a top problem, we've tightened the rules on cordless products. Our reliability survey -we surveyed 7,917 Which? members in September 2019 about the appliances they have at home. We gathered data for more than 25,000 domestic appliances. Even if your battery doesn't completely die, due to the nature of lithium-ion technology, it will still gradually lose charge and you'll notice that your product doesn't last for as long as it used to.
