As I said earlier your Owleez toy doesn’t just fly, it is interactive and you can play with it too! It’s eyes change colour and you can see what they needs from you. There is this helpful crib sheet to help. Owleez needs your help to learn how to fly and in the box is the owl, some berries and a nest. Setting Owleez up Once Owleez is charged, you need to practice flying together by swinging and swooping the owl through the air, which results in it making triumphant and happy noises. The next day after school we took our little pink Owl to IBM as there’s a huge amount of space there. We swooped and fed [and Lyoto discovered you could pretend you had the berry and Owleez would make nibbly noises on his finger [much to Hero’s disgust as you can see in the photos], and then fanfare!

When Owleez arrives in your home, he needs to be charged via a USB cable which is swirled and stored neatly under his nest base. Perch Owleez onto his nest, charge him up and don’t forget to switch him on under his bottom. Babies need to learn how to walk, and Owleez need to learn how to fly. You can teach him by swooping up and down and around so he can feel the air beneath his wings and how amazing it will be for him once he learns. We took ours on a stunt version of swooping. You can hear how much Owleez enjoys it as you go – he makes the best “woooooo, wooooo!” noises for you. Yotie swooped Owleez everywhere with him. Gettin’ some air, he said. THE EYES HAVE IT WITH OWLEEZ There is also an instruction manual included with Owleez troubleshooting. I will talk more below about the issues when Owleez is refusing to fly! This can be pretty frustrating when you can’t get your Owleez to fly but there are some simple solutions. How to Make Owleez Fly Having an owl as a pet just isn’t an option sadly, so we have opted for the next best thing, teaching our very own baby owl how to fly. My gremlin was a little more unsure at first, as she was worried it was going to break but her Owleez was fine and always survived its flight. I did worry, I must admit if we would break one of the propellers but we never seemed to. The instructions are also very comprehensive and help with troubleshooting! Just a tad difficult to find the English bit sometimes. The Owleez pink toy is very cute to look at – a small plastic bird in a bubblegum pink colour, he has a swirly blue design on the chest and blue fluff ‘feathers’ on the sides.

Whilst it can be tempting to try and get started with the Owleez toy straight away, Owleez wont fly, may refuse to fly or wont fly very well if his battery is low, so as frustrating as it may be for the children to have to wait a little, this is definitely recommended to get the best out of the toy. The flying experience is fab! It’s like a Owl helicopter and the propellers really spin fast, as it is about to take off! We were all watching, thinking is it REALLY going to fly?? We rushed to put Owleez in the nest, I lay on the wet grass waiting to capture him in flight with my camera….and he refused. Shook his head and said no, no, no. Then the wah-wah-wah noise comes on like you lost the competition. He wanted feeding, loving – and so we spent the next half an hour with me lay on the grass whilst everyone interpreted his eyes. We had NINETEEN fanfares and EIGHTEEN refusals. I was soaked. Owleez begins to take flight – his body lifts and his little wings spin like a helicopter blade. It’s incredible to watch. The first part of playing with the Owleez toy is to look after his mood by paying close attention to his eye colour. Depending on what colour his eyes are, children need to complete certain movements, actions or touches to make Owleez happy. Some examples include:

More About Owleez Flying Owl

What we did find though is it does crash when it has finished. My eldest kept really worrying it was going to break but there were no issues. You mustn’t try and push the head down and place your Owleez on a flat surface. It will close alone. Then it is good to fly and again and with more practice gets better and better. Your Owleez will seem a bit sad after crashing and my eldest enjoyed patting and comforting it afterwards. Even though this Summer has been a very rough one for the boys, there have been a few moments that have bought excitement and hilarity to both our home and Granny and Grandad’s. Grandad loved our little drone that we bought to show him [which was like one of the little creatures from Batteries Not Included] last year and so this trip now he’s unable to move around for a few weeks, we decided to take our new interactive toys with us to show him. Not just because these are interactive but because they’re quite a bit rebellious. The first one out of the box was Owleez. WHAT IS OWLEEZ? Owleez* is an interactive toy and as such, you can really take care of it. The eyes change colour depending on the mood and within the instructions, there is a handy guide explaining what to do. I would suggest keeping it to the side as it will come in useful. Eye Moods Out of all 3 of the boys, Oliver is the one obsessed with animals. He loves toys that need looking after and you have to care for. So when Spinmaster UK sent us Owleez an owl you can teach to fly. I knew he would really like it! Owleez Flying Owl pretty much a cross between an Owl (obviously) and a drone. You can take care of Owleez by making sure it’s well fed, burped and happy. The best thing though is you can teach it to fly!! Owleez Flying Owl When it’s flying, sometimes/very rarely it may crash while landing, but don’t worry it’s made up of strong material. While landing you can take it into your hands or can be landed on any surface. If the wings are still in flight then they can be closed when you touch the wings and the head will be closed automatically, never push the head down. Once it’s fully charged, it can fly 45 times.
