I mean, if she and her beast Karg had joined Twig and the banderbear earlier in the story, the four of them would've made an epic DnD group with five-star potential. Twig, on the verge of manhood at the age of 13, is told that the Woodtrolls who brought him up are not his real parents and that he must venture forth into the Deepwoods, keeping only to the path, to discover the truth about himself. Twig has a run-in with a skullpelt, a predator which hunts people who fall under the illusions of the Deepwoods' lullabee trees, but is saved by a caterbird which has just hatched from its cocoon.

We were a bit confused at the beginning and it took us a few chapters to get in to the story but we would highly recommended the book. They always manage to elevate each and every individual story, bringing the book as a whole to new heights. If you want a book that's sheer enjoyment, with lots of fun pictures that pulls you into it's world, this is for you. Even though this is written for children, it is a bit dark and some overbearing parents might not like their kids being exposed to situations like death even if they are artfully presented.Q: The Edge Chronicles seems perfectly suited for film, with its fast-paced action, loveable creatures, and incredible comic-timing. I read it within two hours and was already back at the library, getting every other book in the series out. The whole Shryke slave market, with its platforms and walkways all hanging from the Deepwoods trees, was great fun to create as a home for the flightless Shrykes.
