I always thought it was easly washed off as never relly noticed it protecting anything even though reapplied every 8 to 9 months. All areas on my car got worse. First time using this product so was interested to see how it worked. Previously used Waxoyl to reasonable effect but this can be difficult to apply unless using the aerosol version. These days, I nearly always use nitrile "mechanics" gloves when working on cars. Orange colour with diamond pattern grips on palms and fingers. Almost identical to the gloves Edd China invariably uses.) I have been considering using Lanoguard as it doesn't cover up any existing rust as conventional underseal does and it doesn't compromise the original finish applied by Volvo.

Well, being a sheep farmer with a life long history of Land Rovers I have used Waxoyl, Dinitrol, Bilt Hamber and Lanolin based stuff, all have their pro's and con's. Lanoguard products (and products from our sister company Asset Protector) have been used, tried, tested and approved in a vast range of industrial and heavy duty scenarios. One notable example is the use of our products to protect Dublin Airport’s runway de-icer vehicle. Potassium Acetate (the chemical they use in de-icing) is highly corrosive and therefore any vehicles applying it are very prone to corroding and losing their value – causing downtime for the airport operator and a decreased lifespan of the vehicle. We treated their D1 vehicle, as shown in the photo, and continue to be used to protect a whole host of large vehicles and machinery. LanoShield is not just a natural none toxic anti-corrosion and anti-seize grease / spray but it also protects your electrical connections as it does not conduct. This means it can protect your switch boxes, battery terminals as well. I think underseal stinks as a product and actually makes things worse. It should be banned and the company sued.

Spray:

Across the world people and companies have been using environmentally friendly Lanolin based products for a wide variety uses of rust protection and/or lubrication including: A little LanoShield goes a long way so we recommend using a small brush to coat all nuts and bolts, winch, etc. For the best finish simply wipe of any excess with a rag. Leaving any excess on will obviously not harm your trailer so wiping of any excess is matter of choice and not a requirement! Cars Unlike a lot of other lanolin products we want ours to have no petroleum base added (works as a softener) so we use a widely grown seed oil. This means that LanoShield uses 100% renewable resources. Clean the chain, gears, nuts, bolts screws first and then apply the LanoShield. This will not only protect your bike but also enable you to wash it without the LanoShield coming off even if using a pressure washer to 3000PSI Other applications Firstly, lanolin has a natural affinity to ferrous (and many non-ferrous) metals. This means that it works its way to the base metal and bonds to it, including that underneath rust! – which is why, unlike many conventional products, Lanoguard can be sprayed onto surface rust with no issues and doesn't require a highly prepped and keyed up surface. The lanolin will be attracted to the metal underneath and slowly push off any existing rust.

Overall, using a lanolin-based grease for rust protection provides effective and long-lasting corrosion resistance, water repellency, and self-healing properties. It helps to prolong the lifespan of vehicles and maintain their appearance by preventing rust and corrosion damage to the metal surfaces. Jet wash resistant to 3000 psi or 200 bar (won't be displaced and will keep protecting after cleaning) Our research identified products from the USA and also Australia and New Zealand. However, these products all combined the lanolin with a base of naphtha which is a refined petroleum product. Given that the lanolin is naturally occurring, we wanted the final product to be 100% sustainable and from renewable resources and so existing products did not meet our requirement. Many parts of cars are prone to rust and so common areas to use LanoShield are on all bolts and nuts, bulkheads etc. As with trailers we have found the easiest way to apply this is by using a small brush and remember to cover the thread on the bolts as well as all nuts. It can also be applied to your car battery terminals to stop corrosion In June 2020 I discovered alot of surface rust on the subframes of the car. Using other brands I would underseal over the top of hammerite I hoped it would preserve the car. I found the lasted 3 to 9 months just meaning I needed completely do the car again.

Self-Healing Properties: Lanolin-based greases have self-healing properties, which means that if the protective layer gets scratched or damaged, the grease can flow and fill in the gaps, resealing the surface and maintaining its protective function. This helps to ensure continuous protection against rust, even if there are minor abrasions or scratches on the metal surface.Be assured this was not an easy decision for us to make, and we've worked hard to keep this as good value as possible for you. As you know, we are dedicated to ensuring we always use the best quality raw materials, all UK sourced and made by our hardworking team in Sussex. Rather than compromise on product quality we have chosen to make a small marginal increase to selling price to make sure you always get the very high quality, industrial grade protection your vehicles deserve.

In summary, LanoShield prevents and stops corrosion. This is a simple, 100% natural, (made from purified sheep’s wool grease) and versatile product that can be used on electrical components and anywhere that you want to protect from water and corrosion it comes in various sizes from single trailer 250ml tubs to 192kg drums of grease and 500ml to 1000l IBC’s of the spray version.

For commercial use e.g. lathes, chain, farm machinery, aquaculture etc. our tip is to use a little as it goes a long way. Brushing is one method but others include: Ashton Marine Services are taking LanoShield the long lasting eco-friendly anti-corrosion ant-seize grease and sprays to Boatlife at the NEC 16th-19th of Feb.
