He has been delivering behaviour training for schools, F.E. Colleges and other organisations since 2003, most recently spending five years as a senior trainer with Pivotal Education. Charlotte has developed clinical programmes which have helped children affected by fatal road accidents, murders, natural disasters and suicide. Her training consistently focuses on teaching adults how to respond. She has developed practical frameworks that have been researched and utilised by both Kings College and the NHS in the treatment of alcohol and drug abuse and acute trauma.

Despite being aimed at schools, this book has golden lessons for anyone dealing with children’s behaviour, get it, apply it & watch it work! What do you think?… Tony now works as a trainer and consultant working with a range of providers and is still fascinated by behaviour and human relationships. He is passionate about improving opportunities and life chances for all young people. Tony has worked with Senior Teams to build behaviour policy and practice at whole school level, as well as supporting Local Authorities in their Inclusion Strategy. He is a volunteer mentor for vulnerable teenagers in his local authority and has been a public advocate for the awareness of men’s mental health. He was formerly National Coordinator for the Scottish Association for the Teaching of English (SATE). Hannah is an experienced School Improvement Consultant, Coach & Trainer. She specialises in Behaviour, SEMH & SEND, and works nationally and internationally supporting Schools (early years to FE, & Special/AP settings), Local Authorities & Trusts in reviewing, implementing, and developing cultural change, policy, systems and provision. Alongside this Hannah is an Evidence Lead in Education for the EEF & Staffordshire Research School. Her effectiveness in school improvement is driven by research-informed systems and strategy. She advises on, and delivers, the Making the Difference for Disadvantaged Learners and Effective Learning Behaviours programmes After leaving school at 16 and trying lots of jobs he was terrible at, Tony trained as a Teacher in Liverpool. He then started as a classroom teacher, initially in Geography and later Psychology. He has worked as an Advisory Teacher for Tower Hamlets Behaviour Support Team, been a SENCo in two mainstream secondary schools and Pastoral Deputy Head, DSL and Inclusion lead.

She has since built a career from combining her natural skills in relationship management and developing businesses with her creative flair. She joins When The Adults Change as Brand & Relationship Manager looking after our brand and our clients with knowledge and passion. But you don’t need to be a teacher, or indeed an educationalist of any hue, to get a lot from this book. How many ‘doggy doctor’ type TV reality shows have you seen where the people in charge of a dog need to learn the real lessons? And once they do, the dog’s behaviour falls beautifully into line. Paul fell in love with teaching while working as a Teaching Assistant after leaving school. Teaching both inspired and drew him in due to the creativity, the variety and the cohort after cohort of utterly brilliant children he encountered. This is the first of two books by Paul Dix looking at the impact of consistent adult approaches to troubled children in education settings. But I’m Not a Teacher As a teacher, leader and teacher trainer, Paul has been working with the most difficult behaviours in the most challenging contexts for the last 27 years. Miraculously Paul studied at Homerton College Cambridge after countless attempts to sabotage his own education. He is a speaker in high demand engaging huge audiences in practical ways to transform their classrooms, relationships and schools. Paul also works with Leadership Teams to create seismic shifts in culture and behaviour. John is an experienced teacher and Headteacher who has worked across a number of schools in his career which has led him to have huge drive, great experience and an enormous passion for education. He is passionate about the importance of building positive relationships to drive outstanding behaviour in adults and children. John is also a strong advocate for trauma-informed, relational and restorative practice and believes that mainstream education should be a place for all children. His work has proved that a well-established positive ethos and culture in which all children and staff are valued is vital in creating the right climate for children to feel safe and secure and ultimately successful in everything they do. John strongly believes that happy children learn. She is organised, efficient and incredibly helpful when technical jargon gets in the way. She helps our clients book their places on the online course and is on hand to support them as they work their way through it.

Hannah is known for her inspirational & charismatic training, combining her warmth as a person, passion for school improvement, served with a large portion of ‘realness’ and lived experience. As an Adviser and Coach Hannah is a valued and sought-after critical friend and para-professional. Her empathetic approach, delivered with honesty, underpinned with expertise & knowledge means she has supported many educational settings in whole school change as well as individual progression. Having been in Education for 20 years, Hannah has worked at Local Authority Consultancy level for the National Strategies, as an Adviser for Achievement For All, as Senior Leader in several secondary schools, and most recently as Acting Principal at an Alternative Provision in the centre of Birmingham. She has ‘walked the walk’ on all she delivers, and has certainly used the many mistakes she has made as learning points in her career! Tony has been a teacher and school leader for over 33 years. He began teaching in Poplar East London and immediately realised he was drawn to and really enjoyed working with children who are challenging. He is fascinated by human behaviour and is constantly learning more about it.Paul Dix argues in this book– very convincingly – that when adult behaviour changes to be more relational, trauma-informed, ACEs aware and kind, kids settle down and everybody is happier. Practicalities Raymond began his career in education in the 1970s as a teenage flute tutor before becoming an English teacher. He was a head of department in three secondary schools and a Deputy Head Teacher before becoming a lecturer on one of Europe’s largest postgraduate teacher education programmes. For the last twenty years, he has worked on behaviour and ethos with thousands of student teachers and a host of schools from Shetland to Watford, and since leaving the university sector in 2017 he has been an independent consultant as well as a trainer with Pivotal Education. He also teaches part-time at a fantastic school in Glasgow. He has twenty years of experience as a behaviour coach, working in classrooms alongside staff, developing their capacity to lead behaviour effectively. He also enjoys working with classroom-based and other support staff, enabling them to find their voice and role within a positive whole-school approach.
