Wraps are the most basic form of carrier, best known for being the most versatile. They’re made from a variety of materials, come in a wide range of styles, and are essentially long pieces of fabric that you tie around your body to secure your toddler safely in place.

They offer a sensible level of padding to the shoulders and waistbands and they fit a wide range of adults – not ideal for Very petite mums, who are likely to find the waistband too deep and bulky. I have found that wraps are most ideal for carrying your toddler around when you are doing simple chores around the house. Since they are very adaptable, they can be tied around your body in different ways to best suit your preferences, needs and body type.

This question is a deal breaker. Our son had to be able to sleep in the carrier, because we were often out on full day adventures. not durable enough – we stopped using our Beco carrier after 1.5 years of intense use, because we stopped carrying altogether; the material of the carrier seems to be tough and durable, but the chest clip broke which was disappointing for an otherwise well-made carrier

Based on my experiences with a variety of toddler travel carriers, here are the top features to consider before buying: Child Comfort and Safety You don’t just have the four options, but they all tend to work equally well. You’ll find your favorite for the little one, but this is not one of those situations where you really only have one usable position and the other three are just window dressing. Easy to convert leg positioning This carrier or the Tula Toddler Carrier are my recommended options for a best toddler carrier for air travel.

Compared to some other models we tested, the Beco has the least amount of padding in the shoulder straps and waist belt. Both of those sort of dig into your flesh, especially if you wear it for longer periods of time. We mostly used the Beco carrier for hiking, but it’s just as good for long sightseeing days, especially if the streets are not stroller-friendly. Think of European cities with cobbled streets and lots of stairs. Also useful when walking through the airport, getting on and off the plane, or any other kind of public transport. How to clean a Beco carrier: with your washing machine in warm water. Don’t put it in the dryer, though. Hang-dry it to make sure the fabric doesn’t start shrinking and pulling. Hey, at least you’ll have your hands free to do laundry!

Like all baby carriers we review, the Beco Gemini is part of the structured carrier type of equipment. That means it’s sturdy enough to be (and feel) safe for all recommended sizes. At Fathercraft, we don’t dabble in slings or anything else that seems like your little one is about to go tumbling. Some other facts:

Understanding what those different types of carriers are is the first step to narrowing down your choices to a few options: Wraps So what are the best toddler carriers and preschool carriers for 2023? Which is the right one for your family? Well, as I explained in Do I Need A Toddler Carrier? the most important thing is that your carrier fits both your toddler – and you.

There may be places that are easier to sightsee around without a stroller. Especially places like Cinque Terre with a toddler. Kelty also makes a standard and lightweight version: Kelty PerfectFIT Signature and the Kelty Journey. LÍLLÉbabyCarryon Toddler Carrier– A versatile toddler carrier with adjustable features, lumbar support, and the ability to carry children from 20 to 60 pounds. I loved the wider and taller shape of the LÍLLÉbabyCarryon and found it so much more comfortable for both toddler and parent. Best Toddler Carrier for Long Use:Inside, you will also find included, a large pillow for impromptu outdoor naps, a sunroof and a mirror for a rear-view of your little rider! Choose a carrier that provides good head and body support for your child. Make sure the leg holes are loose enough for your toddler’s thighs, but not so loose that they feel they might slip through. Rome was so busy. Having my son in a carrier made it so much easier. Parent Comfort Tula Carrier – Toddler Size– designed for children weighing 25 to 60 pounds, the Tula Carrier is stylish, easy to adjust and comfortable to wear. Best Toddler Carrier for Hiking: Come in many color or pattern options: Because you wear your carrier like an item of clothing, you should be able to get one that appeals to you. Babywearing consultant Angelique Geehan was one of several experts who mentioned that looks matter: “If you’re drawn to it and like the way it looks, you’re more likely to use it and to figure out how to make it work for you. Having one that fits your aesthetic is important. If you get something you’re embarrassed to wear, you’re not going to use it as much.” Let’s make this one big negative with a lot of little parts: as we tested it, the Beco Gemini carrier just didn’t feel comfortable at all. I have all sorts of reasons for that. For what it’s worth, not that I consider myself a baby whisperer, but Calvin didn’t seem to be a fan either.
