Description

It’s a bit on the bulky side, but it maneuvers like a champ. Its unique design lends to its ability to get to hard-to-reach areas in the home. At 16 pounds, it’s one of the lighter vacuums on the market. Combined with its strong suction and ball technology, the DC39 is easily managed. A canister vacuum cleaner wouldn’t be my first choice as it is often heavy, bulky, and hard to store, especially in a smaller apartment. However, the Dyson DC39 Animal looks sleek and modern, and once the hose is detached, it morphs into a smaller, more storable apparatus. It also works well on stairs and car upholstery. Additional accessories include a stair tool and a combination tool, which converts to a brush tool ideal for dusting. The Dyson DC39 Animal has a plethora of features that make your cleaning easier and more effective. Some features are non-negotiable when it comes to a competent vacuum cleaner. Others aren’t needed, but make your life so much easier. Having to disassemble and clean the brush so often is a proper schlep, but it’s worth the proper clean. If you have pet hair flying around and you’re looking for something that will work well with capturing all of it and making your life easier, you should get the Dyson DC39 Animal.

So, what did we do to test the DC39’s limits? As with all vacuum tests, we began in the kitchen and worked our way through the house. Floor types differ with nearly each room, giving us a better understanding of how well any given vacuum performs. The Dyson DC39 sports the familiar Dyson styling comprising a clear, plastic dust container and a purple grooved chassis along with the telltale ball. Not only does the ball replace conventional wheels for smoother steering, it also houses much of the cleaner's technological innards. A couple of stand-out features that make the vacuum look the way it does are the “Radial Root Cyclone Technology” and the “Ball Technology”. High-pile carpets are notoriously difficult to clean, and mine is no exception. The Dyson DC39 performed significantly better than any other cleaner I’ve used on my high-pile carpets, thanks to the radial root cyclone technology. Suctioning on Hardwood Floors It also works well on stairs and car upholstery. Additional accessories include a stair tool and a combination tool, which converts to a brush tool ideal for dusting. Triggerhead Tool

Pros

For tight corners, we whipped out the attachments. This lets you get those pesky dust particles that build up over time. You’re still getting the same high level of suction, regardless of which attachment tool you’re using. You can gather the amount of engineering that went into the DC39's accessories just by looking at them. The main cleaning tool is called the Triggerhead. It's an turbine-powered brush head that can be controlled from the handle. That means you can switch from carpet to bare floors without tapping any pedals or bending over. Even better, this suction rarely, if ever, loses its power during operation. You can now vacuum more efficiently thanks to this wonderful technology. Many jobs are cut in half because the suction works so well. High-pile carpets are notoriously difficult to clean, and mine is no exception. The Dyson DC39 performed significantly better than any other cleaner I’ve used on my high-pile carpets, thanks to the radial root cyclone technology.

Hardwood floors are challenging to clean in a different way to carpets. It’s slightly slippery, so sometimes the brush doesn’t grip well enough to get all the fine dust and pet hair. The Dyson DC39 excels in this regard. The adaptable brush accessory is made for hardwood floors, and one smooth motion is enough to get all the dirt on the floor. Pros I like the Dyson DC39 Animal Canister, and it’s definitely my favorite canister vacuum cleaner. It’s efficient at cleaning pet hair and at moving around obstacles. However, there are still better products on the market – although you’ll have to deal with a heftier price tag for those. For this price range, the Dyson is more than worth it. A review of consumer comments from a large number of sources yielded the following common vacuum likes and dislikes:The Dyson DC39 Animal uses cyclone technology, so the air spins at incredibly high speeds, which reduces the likelihood of clogging. Everything the vacuum cleaner suctions up goes straight into the bin.

For the technical people out there – the Dyson vacuum cleaner can generate a force thousands of times the force of gravity, so that dirt is well and truly suctioned and trapped. With a bulky vacuum cleaner, this is a chore on its own. With the Dyson DC39 Animal Canister Vacuum central steering feature, I can clean the living room without having to do a complete remove because it moves around obstacles like a breeze. The fact that the Dyson DC39 Animal is so easy to use might encourage you take it out of your closet more often. And that's half the battle, isn't it? Cleaning Performance Does not perform up to its price

Google Maps

Thanks to the iconic ball, the DC39 does roll around with ease. Even though the canister weighs over 16 pounds, it follows you with just a little tug. The ball also lets you glide over normal and bare floors easily, but this low-profile design makes it difficult for the canister to traverse high-pile carpet. This Dyson had trouble dealing with edges. We found that the Triggerhead brush didn't have suction from the side or the front until .5 inches in. That means when you're vacuuming along a wall, no matter what, you'll have a strip of uncleaned carpet. It's always a pain to bust out the crevice tool for an entire room. For a vacuum of this style, its dust container’s capacity is rather decent. You get a total of 2 quarts to work with. That being said, you’ll likely find yourself emptying it out often. Depending on how regularly you sweep and what kind of debris you’re sweeping up, your time with this will vary. The Dyson DC39 is the first of the maker's cylinder Dyson vacuum cleaners to sport its distinctive Ball technology, designed for easy manoeuvring around tight corners and we were one of the first to get our hands on this new piece of household gadgetry.

I put together this Dyson DC39 Animal review to give you some information about the features, benefits, and pros and cons, and my overall verdict on it.

Additional vacuum features include a suction release valve in the handle which allows you to manually reduce suction (useful for vacuuming delicate items like curtains, lamp shades, etc.), a cleaning path width of 10.5 inches, and a 5-year part and labor warranty. The DC39 Animal is also UL, ETL and CSA listed. So, what about finer debris? We ran the Dyson over sugar, coffee, and dried rice. After a couple of passes, our kitchen floor was spotless. Everyday dust and debris is handled like a pro, with no bogging down whatsoever. This Dyson Animal uses the famous Ball Technology. Instead of a vacuum that travels on wheels, the vacuum literally spins around on a large sphere enabling the canister to turn uninhibited in any direction. The ball also houses the motor which helps to create a low center of gravity making the machine more stable. In addition, the ball has been acoustically treated to ensure that the vacuum is not too noisy. The ball uses polyurethane sound-insulating materials that help absorb noise and sound dampening mounts are used to attach the motor to the housing.
