Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness. Jesse Is On A Helicopter Over The Ocean When It Disappears As They Are Celebrating Their First Wedding Anniversary. Jesse Disappears Instantly And Without A Trace. I found the story idea to be interesting: ✅ - I came across this book at Target and thought it sounded like it would be a light, fun, and cute read.

I found the world building to be immersive and particularly well done: ❌ - I always struggle to decide whether or not I’m going to award points here when I’m reading a contemporary story. At the end of the day, I didn’t feel like I was drawn into the setting of the story. The main characters were traveling across Europe on a cruise ship, but the atmosphere didn’t particularly convey any of those vibes. this book was just a book of so many different things. of knowing when to let go and when to hold on. this is almost a once-in-a-lifetime experience and tale, i think. some things i learnt from this: If I’m being totally honestly, I struggled with the ending, too. I’m not unhappy about the way things turned out—I actually love the choice Emma made—I just think she need to do some major groveling. It felt like a missed opportunity. At The Conclusion Of Emma’s Second Year, Sam Completes High School. After Graduation, They Find Themselves At The Same High School Party As Jesse, Who Has Subsequently Split Up With His Fiancée. During The Party, Jesse And Emma Have A Talk In Which Jesse Admits That He Despises Swimming Despite Being An Excellent Swimmer And Emma Admits That She Despises Reading Despite Her Parents Owning Blair Books. They Support One Another In Pursuing Their Goals, Such As Emma Leaving Acton To Attend College In California And Jesse Giving Up Competitive Swimming. They Share A Spark, Kiss That Night, Fall In Love That Summer, And Sam Leaves Town For College Without Saying Goodbye To Emma.

It's messy to love after heartbreak. It's painful and it forces you to be honest with yourself about who you are. You have to work harder to find the words for your feelings, because they don't fit into any prefabricated boxes.

Who is her one true love? Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying. now, i don't truly want to talk about the characters much but i'm just gonna say that taught me A LOT. and the way this was so beautifully emotional, i liked it. One True Loves is a fantastic tale full of shenanigans, escapades, and lighthearted banter, while also delving into deeper issues of race and the perception of the successful futures of young people of color.” My mother is sitting next to him in a gauzy white blouse and khakis, trying to hold in a smile. She knows that a tiny cake with a candle and a song are coming any minute. She has always been childlike in her zeal for surprises.I adored the chemistry between the MC and the love interest/other significant characters: ❌ - Lenore and Alex were corny and cliched as both individuals and as a couple. I struggled to connect to them. After enjoying the first book last year, I was so excited when this book came out and it did not disappoint. I loved this one so much, even more than the first! This YA book full of lovable characters, great friendships and lots of self discovery was so fun and well written! It also brought up so many important topics which blended into the story perfectly.

this book also didnt end the way i was wanting it to (i mean, lets be real. its going to take much more than three days to come to a life changing decision. i wasnt really buying that emma knew exactly what she wanted just after one weekend away. emotions and feelings are so much complicated than that) but, the more i think about it, the more i guess im okay with it. because it is a really sweet message, a message that i dont think would have been possible had it ended the way i was hoping. regardless of this not quite being the story i was wanting, this is really sweet and quite touching overall! One True Loves started with great intro and I truly liked scenes from Emma’s past. But once story caught up with present, it went downhill pretty fast. All I got was unhealthy relationships and love triangle that made me feel disgusted with heroine instead of feeling sorry for her. I read this book because blurb promised emotional story. And “emotional” it was, just not in the way that I had expected…Just to make things clear before I explain why I hated this story, there is one thing you should know about me – indecisive and selfish heroine is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to books. And Emma was exactly that.

This is one of those stories that'll tear your heart in two directions as you read and make you really think about how you want the story to end. It's a bittersweet and yet deeply heart-warming romance that takes a really intriguing look at the concept of love. Can a person have more than one true love? Lately, no one outside of 978, 857, 508, or 617—the various area codes of Boston and its suburbs—has reason to call me. The servers finish at that table and a manager comes out with another slice of cake. Now they are all headed right for us.If I would say that I love everything in this book then how big of a fangirl would I be? Because I'm in love with this book so much. (teeth) There were few to no instances in which the writing or writing style detracted from my reading experience in a jarring way: ❌ - I found a lot of moments to be cringy. I debated whether to deduct points here because the writing talent of the author in a stylistic sense wasn’t that off-putting. Unfortunately, the words and plot devices that the author chose to use were awkward, and at times, embarrassing in my opinion. I felt that I couldn’t justify awarding points here. Jesse has been gone for three years.....considered dead from a helicopter crash....but he is alive and returning home to Emma....his wife. Lenore is a gorgeous main character whose heart has been broken and who is overwhelmed in the face of the world’s expectations. Her and Alex’s whirlwind love story could’ve seemed shallow and childish, but their relationship was very genuinely achy in the heart region despite the 12 day timeline (a testament to Elise Bryant’s writing). While I first felt awful for the MC and her romantic troubles (I may have related to that feeling of never really being someone's first choice), I took a star off because of how the MC handles the situation with her love interest when crap hits the fan.
