Liza has shed her "younger" self, but was now faced with a plethora of major life choices as she resumed her "older" life. Ageless employs a scientific vocabulary – autophagy, amyloids, adducts and countless other specialised terms abound. But the book is nevertheless accessible, its style chatty and engaging. As a computational scientist, Steele explores the history of ageing and views it as a medical problem rather an inevitable destiny. A relatively new science, biogerontology, researches the physical process of ageing and seeks cures for it.

I’m not going to say how long any part of this book lasts (NYC, CA, writing, tv pilot, Hugo, caring for the grandchild) because I don’t want to spoil anything. I’d also love to comment on my feelings about the ending but I’ve already said I am strongly Team Josh, so you’d be able to guess the ending if I told you how I felt about it. A Man’s Guide to Healthy Agingfocuses on the male perspective of physical health, mental well-being, and how your relationships can affect your overall health and wellness. I'm always looking out for a good handbook on getting older. There are probably thousands of books on the first few years of life, but I have found it difficult to get a good practical guide to how your body ages. What I really want is the Dorling Kindersley book for getting older. In Keep Sharp, Dr. Gupta suggests that brain function decline isn’t a final diagnosis, nor is it the last word in your brain’s health. Instead, there are several positive, regenerative habits included in the NEURO plan (Nutrition, Exercise, Unwind, Restore, Optimize) you can start now. Diaz blends this information from leading professionals to show you how to maintain vitality while giving the subject a good dose of humor to keep the book fresh and exciting. Caroline says, ‘The discussions about health describe how good habits in earlier life can be beneficial and also about independence and attitudes to its preservation.’ Interesting and engaging . . . The tone throughout is warm and friendly, even as serious and dark subjects are under discussion. It is an important book' Irish Times The honest, compassionate and vital guide to getting older, from dementia to finances, medication to care homes

The Long Goodbyeis the story of a woman watching her father slowly disappear. It's both a loving and a tender tribute.

When Liza goes to L.A. for work, she's presented as the bad guy for "abandoning" her daughter in the later months of her pregnancy, despite her daughter being, you know, an adult, with a husband and a support system. After the baby is born, Liza is coerced into being the unpaid help (and at one point thrown shade by Caitlin when Caitlin comes home from work and Liza hasn't also made dinner). Eventually, after giving me a coronary, this plotline peters out so Liza can have her textually unsupported and unsexy affair with a movie star, which ends in a marriage proposal after two seconds. Caitlin decides to have a second baby right away, to like . . . get it over with. And Josh, the only character in the book (and in the show's later seasons) who is consistently likable, is written off as unable to have a happy ending -- but it's cool for Kelsey to use him for his sperm though, lol. The Longevity Bookexplores the idea that there’s no escaping the female aging process, one that begins as soon as we’re born. But there’s an abundance of information from experts in nutrition, science, medicine, and more to support a better path to aging and aging well. Wise, compassionate, well researched and very broad in its coverage. I've learnt a lot that will help me both as a doctor and a patient. Thank you' - Dr Phil Hammond Overall a fabulous engaging read - think Adam Kay's This is going to hurt but for grownups! The stories bring life to the various areas and challenges - this did not take me long to finish and I was gripped from start to finish. It takes a community to help seniors flourish happily in place. With aging in place, the right policies and the right frame of mind means that more seniors will be able to stay at home longer. 6 .
