Like the other models, the design is lightweight and compact. It’s also rated for use with every smooth surface, able to clean to the bottom of a window. The LED battery indicator lets you know when it’s time to charge. The Vac comes with a 280mm suction nozzle designed to let you get right into the corners and edges of every window. A smaller nozzle is also available as an accessory, ensuring every cleaning task is covered. The whole process for a single inside window – from squirting and mopping to the vacuum procedure – took exactly 40 seconds. So I tried the Blitz and Windolene method and timed that, too – one minute and 20 seconds plus two wet and dirty sheets of Blitz and another for the drying.

In addition to drying your clean windows, the vacuum can also be used for condensation. If your car windows are fogging up, the vacuum can help with that. It can also remove moisture from smooth bathroom surfaces to prevent the growth of mould or mildew. The battery is integrated into the window vac, so you'll need to plug in the entire appliance for charging. The LED display proved useful as an indicator of how much charge, minute-by-minute, the Karcher Window Vac had accumulated, and also consumed when in use. Look for models with LED indicator lights so you can keep an eye on your battery life and not end up with a dead vac in the middle of cleaning your windows. This can really slow you down as many window vac models have long charge times, which we’ll cover in the next section. Like the other products, this window vac has a two-year warranty that can be lengthened if you buy directly from Karcher. Interchangeable suction heads: Most window vacs come with a 280mm suction head as standard, but many include an additional smaller head for fiddly jobs such as leaded windows and front door panels. Pivoting suction heads can also help to get into awkward spots. None of that would matter if the Karcher didn’t clean windows brilliantly – and that’s where it really excels. Suction is strong and efficient right across the nozzle, so you can clean and dry into the silicone seal around your windows. The finish is about as streak-free as a window vac can achieve, although you may want to give your glass a final buff with a dry kitchen towel. Let’s be real– window washing is a chore, and it’s not always easy to get that perfect finish, without smudges or streaks. It’s no wonder so many people save themselves the hassle and choose to hire a window cleaner.

Weight and capacity: A kilo may not feel like much at first, but after half an hour of holding the unit at arm’s length it will start to hurt – especially when it fills up with 300ml or so of dirty water. The battery indicator lights will let you know when the charge is low. There’s also an edge guidance system that makes it easy to clean along the edges of windows without missing any corners. You can manually adjust the edges to clean the entire surface. Since the battery is removable, charging is easy. Spurred on by the success on my bathroom tiles, I turned my attention to the shower screen – which was in a pretty dire state. Although we have a squeegee sitting on the tiles for use after each shower, we seldom use it – which results in a buildup of limescale on the shower screen. Mind, Kärcher isn’t the only window vac manufacturer out there – you can see a few more brands in our guide to the Best Window Vacs– but since Kärcher invented the window vac and its range has been so favourably reviewed by other users, that’s the brand I thought I’d concentrate on.

For best results, use with Karcher cleaning agents. These are eco-friendly and bio-degradable and cut powerfully through grease, dirt, insects and the drips and streaks left by water without damaging the surface.

In addition, the dirty water tank is 50 per cent larger than that of the other models. The dirty water tank functions like the dustbin on a traditional vacuum. The larger it is, the more surface you can clean before needing to dump it. Among its many included accessories are a smaller 170mm suction head for hard-to-reach areas and a microfibre attachment to spread detergent on your windows. There’s a built-in LED battery indicator and you can buy additional batteries so that you’ve always got a fully charged one ready to go. The set comes with a manually adjustable range. You can set it on a scale from 0.6 metres to 1.5 metres. Another great feature is the adjustable head, which lets you change the angle of the window vac. By doing this, you can clean under surfaces or on top of shelves without needing to bend down or use a ladder. This top window vacuum is equipped with a liquid silicone lip. It also includes a digital display that can give you minute-by-minute updates for up to 100 minutes, along with a few other accessories.
